Are you getting enough sleep?  It seems all the literature I’ve been reading this past month says we aren’t getting and what we are getting is fitful and not at all peaceful.  Then there was an additional study as to whether you should sleep with your pets.

Of course I’m sure you know where I stand on that.  My cats sleep with me every night that I’m home and I just love it.  I also sleep very well (even in hotel rooms) so I am fortunate that I don’t have any issues, but let’s take a look at all of this.

If you do have trouble sleeping, you need to look at the reasons why.  Is it your mattress (you know that 8 year rule), the air in your room, the light, or your mental state?  I even sleep with the TV on!  But when I get to turn over to sleep, I am ready and my mind is clear.

Start your sleep routine early in the evening and make a promise to yourself: 2 hours before you plan on going to bed, stop working. Think about your week ahead and review what you have to accomplish tomorrow.  Work it all out in your mind as to when you will need to wake up and visualize getting everything done.  After you do that- have a luke warm drink of water and think of what you’re most proud of from the entire past week.

Arranging your upcoming day in advance can significantly help turn off those night time “conversations” that can wake you up in the middle of the night.

If you have things on your mind, try to write them down to get them out of your awareness.  Keep that mind of yours as clear as possible.  Take some deep breaths and do some stretches.  Then catch the ZZZZZ’s.

I want all of you to have as peaceful a sleep as possible. You need it for your active day, stimulating thoughts, and powerful negotiation skills.
Sleep well!
